James; Good evening,  just wanted to touch base with you.. after several inquiries with a few GM tech's I found that the 2008 4.3L motor will swap out with very little challenge.   I will be able to use the entire motor as is.  That 08 intake fuel injection system will plug and play with my PCM, and work better than my old system.  Man that's great!  James this is just a dream come true.   I'm hyped.  Now, all I have to do is change out those factory intake gaskets for the new metal framed set-up, install my new H-D water pump, my new oil cooler adapter connection, and I can keep her all 2008 LU3 as issued and that sweet little 4.3 will be ready to install.  AH man after 3-years waiting, I am so ready.  Hope to hear from you soon. I am really looking forward to this.  Again, I want to thank you so much for your time and efforts in my project.  You have gone way beyond that extra mile ... sincerely PJ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PJ-The engine will be delivered to you today!  We were not able to locate the spacer for the fan shroud, all the fan shrouds were gone from our vehicles.
